We will look at off camera flash as a viable solution for
location lighting with simple equipment.
Format:
Introduction
Short slideshow with descriptions that show off
camera flash examples of work and photos of setups and equipment in use
Equipment review using my equipment
Demonstration of simple lighting techniques and
exposure using a shoot through umbrella, Westcott 28" Apollo Softbox, and if
there's time a homemade snoot
Q and A session at end of lecture
If there is time, attendees can view and handle
equipment at end of session
About Bob Harrington
A lifelong snapshooter, I decided to take my love of
photography to the next level.
Over four years ago I started my company and have been
building my business ever since.My client list includes: Lornameade Inc, Westfield Corp, Tri-City
Appliance, Milford Living Magazine, Natural Awakenings, and many more.
In August of 2008 I sold all my high-end strobe lighting and
immersed myself in the world of off camera flash.My need to be mobile and efficient outweighed my need of big
strobe lighting.I have since
become a small flash specialist, continuing to do high-end professional work
with the simplest of equipment.
By August of 2009 I was teaching this technique to anyone
who would listen.I formed a local
Meetup group and have been spreading the word throughout New England to my,
currently, 178 member group.I run
workshops almost every weekend and am now expanding into larger markets with my
enthusiasm for small flash photography.
The future of small flash photography has been validated not
only by people like Joe McNally and David Hobby but by the release of the
Elinchrom Quadra strobe system, proof enough that small lights can deliver big
results in many, many configurations.
I am a working photographer who loves to spread the word on
small flash photography.Join me
on this journey of expanding your knowledge and getting the fullest out of your
speedlight.
